In the center of Plovdiv – one of the oldest cities in Europe and European Capital of Culture 2019 – the FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS will be the first time on May 9, 2019, Europe Day. The second largest Bulgarian city in the country is called “The City of the Seven Hills” and was chosen European Capital of Culture 2019 alongside the Italian city of Matera. For this reason, the city incorporated the celebration of Europe Day in Bulgaria in 2019 for the first time in the year-round cultural program. The inhabitants and guests of the city can marvel at the transformation of the city-known facades, which were built at the end of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century, in a new splendor. With the help of a spectacular 3D video mapping and seven light installations, Zander & Partner stages the Bulgarian city in cooperation with the award-winning mapping studio MP-STUDIO as a tourist magnet.
